Remove plastic lid in the centering point of the light alloy wheel

Mount front wheel or front wheels

 Two wheel bolts are sufficient.

Loosen collar nut of front axle shaft

The vehicle may no longer be moved with a loosened collar nut.
Otherwise, the wheel bearing can get damaged.

 The vehicle must be in contact with the ground.

Detach front wheel or front wheels

Remove rear lower engine compartment paneling

Detach brake caliper

 Do not separate brake line, attach brake caliper to body.

Remove left front rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front rpm sensor (L6/2) from steering knuckle (1)

 Do not completely remove left front rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front rpm sensor (L6/2).

Remove bolt (3)

Remove ball head (4) from steering knuckle (1)

Remove transverse control arm from steering knuckle (1)

Remove front axle shaft from wheel hub

 Tie front axle shaft to undercarriage.

Remove brake disk

Remove front axle brake cover plate

Only when installing a new steering knuckle (1).

Mark position of steering knuckle (1) relative to suspension strut

 The marking makes the subsequent camber adjustment easier.

Remove cam bolt (6)

Remove steering knuckle (1)

 To do this, unscrew collar bolt (7).



Install

Install steering knuckle (1)

 Replace collar bolt (7). Do not tighten collar bolt (7) to torque due to subsequent measurement of camber and caster.

Install cam bolt (6)

 Replace cam bolt (6). Do not tighten nut of cam bolt (6) to torque due to subsequent measurement of camber and caster.

Install front axle brake cover plate

Only when installing a new steering knuckle (1).

Perform wheel alignment check

 When doing so, check camber and caster on the front axle and adjust as required. In doing so, the collar bolt (7) and cam bolt (6) are tightened.
