Remove locking pin (93a)

 To do this, shear off the plate of the locking pin with a suitable tool and press down the rest of the pin in the cap.

Remove cap (93)

Fill with transmission oil

 The vehicle must be horizontal.

 When refilling or following an oil change, pour in approx. 5 l of transmission oil before starting the engine.



Check transmission oil temperature

 STAR DIAGNOSIS can be used to call up the current transmission fluid temperature in one of the selector lever positions R, D, 4, 3, 2 and 1

Insert oil dipstick as far as it will go, pull out again, and read off oil level. Repeat if necessary.

 Warm up the transmission, wait at least 2 minutes and check the oil level with the engine running Operate service brakes during this step.
When the transmission is cold, the oil level indicator must be between in the "min." and "max." marks for 77° F (A). When the transmission is warm, the oil level indicator must be between in the "min." and "max." marks for 180° F (B).

If too much transmission oil is added, it is absolutely essential to drain off or extract the surplus. An insufficient or excessive oil quantity causes malfunctions and transmission damage.



Check oil level again

 Correct if necessary.

Fit cap (93) on oil filler pipe and press in new locking pin (93a) until it locks in position

Check transmission for leaks

If there is a loss of oil, determine and eliminate the cause.
