Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

1

Detach ground line of on-board electrical system battery.

Drain fluid from transmission.



Remove front axle shafts.

Remove front axle carrier.

Remove screw/bolts (6).

Detach electrical wiring harness (4) from transmission housing all the way round.

Lower vehicle.

Remove holder of air filter housing.

Remove ventilation box.

Disconnect electrical connector (5).

Detach electrical wiring harness of electrical connector (5) from transmission (1).

 Position electrical wiring harness outside the working area.

Detach shift cables from transmission (1).

 Position shift cables outside the working area.

 Caution

Risk of poisoning from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury from skin and eye contact with brake fluid

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.

Detach hydraulic line of clutch from transmission (1).

 Do not detach the hydraulic line from the clutch master cylinder.

 Collect escaping brake fluid and seal openings.

Detach electrical wiring harness from starter.

 Do not raise the vehicle.
Position electrical wiring harness outside the working area.

Mount engine support clamp and attach engine at left.

Remove bolt (3) .

 Screw, transmission to timing case cover

Remove bolts (2) .

 Bolt, left engine support to transmission

Lower transmission (1) with engine at left side.

 Lower the transmission (1) approx. 12 cm.

Raise vehicle.

Support transmission (1) and secure on mounting plate.



Do not fit the tensioning strap over detachable parts.
This prevents damage occurring.

Unscrew remaining screws (3) of transmission (1) all the way round.

Guide out transmission (1) to the left and lower.

 Installation: Insert transmission input shaft accurately into gearing of clutch plate and align transmission (1) with pilot bushings.
As soon as the transmission (1) is located on the pilot bushings, pull the transmission (1) evenly towards the engine using at least 3 screws (3).



Check

Check ring gear at flywheel for damage and wear.

If corresponding findings are present,



Replace flywheel.

Check starter drive pinion for damage and wear.

If corresponding findings are present,



Replace starter.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Check transmission (1) for leak tightness.

In the case of damage,



perform suitable repair measures to rectify the leak.

 After obtaining special order.

Check clutch and gearshift system for proper operation.

If the transmission (1) does not shift easily through the gears,



Adjust shift cables.
