Remove underride guard (A)

Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain coolant at radiator (11)

 Collect coolant in a suitable container.



Remove upper radiator cross member (1)

 Place upper radiator cross member (1) to the side with hood lock installed.

Remove coolant expansion lines (2)

 Detach bracket (3) for this step and open the hose clamps (4).

 Installation: Check condition of coolant expansion lines (2) and hose clamps (4); replace if necessary.

Detach coolant hose (5) from radiator

 Installation: Check condition of coolant hose (5) and hose clamps, replace if necessary.

6 mm socket hexagon on flexible shaft for hose clamps with worm drive

7 mm socket hexagon on flexible shaft for hose clamps with worm drive

Remove viscous fan clutch

Remove charge air hoses (6, 7)

 To do this unlock the safety clamps and open hose clamps. Close openings on charge air cooler to avoid entry of coolant.

 Traces of oil or slight quantities of oil in the charge air hoses (6, 7) come from the crankcase ventilation and are permissible.

 Installation: Check sealing rings for damages and replace if necessary. Ensure securing clamp is installed exactly.

Remove automatic transmission oil lines (17, 18) on cooler

 Collect transmission oil which flows out. Connect automatic transmission oil lines (17, 18) with a hose of 12 mm inner diameter.



Detach coolant hose (9) from radiator

 Installation: Check condition of coolant hose (9) and hose clamps, replace if necessary.

6 mm socket hexagon on flexible shaft for hose clamps with worm drive

Detach retaining clamps (10) from radiator (11)

Remove bolt (12)

 Model 463.322/323

 Model 461.302/331/332/342/345 only with air conditioning, code H02.

Lift radiator (11) out of lower cross member

 Installation: Insert the guide studs (13) of the radiator (11) into the rubber grommets of the bottom cross member.

Remove radiator (11)

 Remove radiator together with condenser (11) to the top and place them on a solid surface.

 Installation: Ensure the retaining tabs (14) and rubber mounts (15) at the condenser (16) are correctly seated.

Attach guard plate for radiator (11) or condenser (16)



Install in the reverse order

Check oil level in automatic transmission, correct if necessary
