2 Expansion reservoir
| Check | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
| Notes on coolant | ||
1 | Open engine hood | See Operating Instructions
2 | Unscrew the cap (1) of the expansion reservoir (2) | Turn once in the anti-clockwise direction, release the excess pressure and then unscrew the cap (1).
3 | Check coolant level, adjust to correct level if necessary.
| Engine cooling system - inspect fluid level, adjust to correct level. Inspect anticorrosion/ antifreeze protection, adjust to correct concentration | ||
4 | Connect a pressure pump with an adapter at the expansion reservoir (2) | Use the adapter from the brake fluid replacement unit.
| |||
5 | Pressurize cooling system | The test overpressure must not be greater than 1.4 bar. If new cylinder head gasket fitted, first of all warm up engine to operating temperature before testing cooling system for leaks.
6 | Inspect condition and connection of hose clamps, retighten or replace, if necessary
7 | Check cooling and heating hoses as well as their connection points for proper condition and loss of coolant; replace coolant hoses if necessary
8 | Disconnect the pressure pump with the adapter at the expansion reservoir (2)
9 | Seal the expansion reservoir (2) with the cap (1) |
