Fit engine cranking device (2)

 To counterhold flywheel (3) when loosening Screw/bolts (4). The engine cranking device (2) can be blocked by inserting the pin.



Remove Screw/bolts (4) of flywheel (3)

 First undo the two opposite screw/bolts (4) and screw in a drift (5) for each one.



Measure

Measure the shank length of screw/bolts (4)

 Over-elongated screw/bolts (4) must be replaced.

Depth gage

Remove drive plate and spacer plate

Only if fitted.

Attach assembly device to flywheel (3)

Inspect flywheel (3)

Rework flywheel (3) if necessary

Check flywheel (3) ring gear

Check gear teeth for wear and damage A worn ring gear must be replaced against a separate order: 

Remove/install flywheel ring gear

Check pilot bearing

Check the pilot bearing for ease of movement and damage, if necessary, replace the pilot bearing against a separate order: 

Remove/install guide bearing in flywheel

Inspect race

Inspect race for wear and damage, if necessary, replace race against a separate order: 

Remove/install race on flywheel

Install

Install flywheel (3)

 Place flywheel (3) on drifts (5) and push against the crankshaft. When positioning, make sure that the centering bore is aligned with the centering pin in the crankshaft.

Insert the drive plate and spacer plate

Only if fitted.

Tighten screw/bolts (4) on flywheel (3)

 Lightly lubricate screw/bolts (4) on thread and on contact surfaces before installing. Replace the drift (5) with screw/bolts (4).


