Removing

Remove flywheel

Press out radial shaft sealing ring (2) with pry bars (1)

 Cover over crankshaft with a cloth as a protection.

Clean

Clean timing case in area of removed radial shaft sealing ring (2) and the flywheel flange



Checking

Check contact surface of the radial shaft sealing ring (2) on the flywheel flange or race on the flywheel

 If there is galling on the flywheel flange or on the race:



Fit new race onto flywheel flange.

Vehicles without code (N52) Rear engine power take-off, output torque 600 Nm or
without code (N53) Rear engine power take-off, for hydraulic pump

Install

Install new radial shaft sealing ring (2) with the insertion device (3)

 Install radial shaft sealing ring (2) on the outer surface dry and on the inner sealing lip wet with engine oil.

For a flywheel without race

A radial shaft sealing ring (2) with a larger inside diameter must be installed.
