Danger

Risk of death when working on component parts and systems with U >= 30 V alternating voltage (AC) or U >= 60 V direct voltage (DC)

Do not touch damaged or defective live component parts and lines or non-insulated electrical connections and lines.

Remove

1

Remove flywheel/drive plate

AR03.30-P-8001OLF

2

Press radial shaft sealing ring (1) out of the timing case cover (2) using a suitable screwdriver

Do not damage the crankshaft and sealing surface on the timing case cover (2).
The leaktightness of the new radial shaft sealing ring (1) will not be achieved anymore otherwise.

Check

3

Check sealing surface for the radial shaft sealing ring (1) on timing case cover (2) for ridging; deburr sealing surface if necessary

Install

4

Push radial shaft sealing ring (1) in direction of arrow on the insertion tool (3a)

The radial shaft sealing ring (1) and the contact surface on the crankshaft must be free of grease.
Grease prevents the inclined webs on sealing lip (1d) transporting back the engine oil.

The sealing lip (1d) and the protective lip (1s) of the radial shaft sealing ring (1) must lay correctly over the whole circumference on insertion tool (3a). Place radial shaft sealing ring (1) in place again if this is not the case.

5

Place insertion tool (3a) on the crankshaft and tighten down with the two screw/bolts.

Insertion tool

6

Place insertion tool (3) on the insertion tool (3a) and screw on nut

Align bores in insertion tool (3) to the screw/bolts in insertion tool (3a).

Insertion tool

*651589016100

7

Screw on nut further and pull in radial shaft sealing ring (1) until the insertion tool (3) lies on the timing case cover (2)

The radial shaft sealing ring (1) must be flush touching the timing case cover (2).
There will be no perfect sealing achieved otherwise.

Ensure that radial shaft sealing ring (1) has been pulled in equally over the whole circumference.

8

Remove screw/bolt for insertion tool (3a) from the crankshaft and remove insertion tool (3) with the insertion tool (3a)

9

Install flywheel/drive plate

AR03.30-P-8001OLF

Check

10

Check engine oil level, correct if necessary

AP18.00-P-1811MP

The oil level of the engine must lie between "Min" and "Max".
Engine damage can occur otherwise.

Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
