5	Attach engine to commercial vehicle engine-assembly stand	 Using an angle bracket.
6	Remove starter (M1) and bracket (16)	 Installation: Check starter drive pinion for wear; replace starter (M1) if necessary.

8	Remove flywheel (18)		AR03.30-W-8002C
9	Remove ground line (17) on timing case (1)
10	Mark crankshaft position sensor (B15) and camshaft position sensor (B16) relative to timing case (1)
11	Remove crankshaft position sensor (B15)	 Installation: Check locking bush; replace if necessary. Press in locking bush and crankshaft position sensor (B15) as far as the stop.
12	Remove camshaft position sensor (B16)	 Installation: Check locking bush; replace if necessary. Press in locking bush and camshaft position sensor (B16) as far as the stop.
13	Remove crankcase ventilation vent line (14) at oil separator (2) and swivel to the side	 Installation: Check seal ring; replace ventilation line for crankcase ventilation (14) if necessary.
14	Remove compressor suction line (7) at timing case (1) and swivel upwards at the compressor resonance container (4)	 Installation: Check sealing ring; replace compressor suction line (7) if necessary.
15	Loosen clamp for compressor suction line (6) and remove bracket (21) on timing case (1)		*BA01.60-N-1002-01M
16	Remove side bracket on timing case (1) with compressor control compressed-air line (3), constant throttle compressed air line (5) and engine brake compressed air line (15)	 Push bracket (3) slightly upwards. For engines with code (MS4) BlueTec 4 or with code (MS5) BlueTec 5, also push metering device compressed air line (20) upwards with it.
17	Remove oil separator (2) on timing case (1)	 Collect engine oil that flows out.

18	Remove timing case (1)	 Detach timing case (1) using a plastic-headed hammer, if necessary. Check timing case (1) for damage; replace if necessary.
		 Installation: Place timing case (1) on dowel pins.

19	Replace radial sealing ring (24) in timing case (1).	 Check whether a race is mounted on flywheel (18); install appropriate radial sealing ring (24) in the timing case (1) if necessary.	AR03.20-W-3063C
20	Remove oil separator (2) oil guide (19), bracket (23) and all detachable parts on timing case (1)	 Only when replacing the timing case (1).

22	Install in the reverse order
