10 | Mark crankshaft angle position sensor (B15) and camshaft position sensor (B16) relative to engine wiring harness (10) and to timing case (4) | ||
11 | Pull out crankshaft angle position sensor (B15) | Installation: Check locking bush (15); replace if necessary. Press in locking bush (15) and crankshaft angle position sensor (B15) fully. | |
12 | Pull out camshaft angle position sensor (B16) | Installation: Replace O-ring (14) and inspect locking bush (15); replace if necessary. Press in locking bush (15) and camshaft angle position sensor (B16) fully. | |
13 | Remove crankcase ventilation (3) vent line on oil separator (5) and on crankcase | Check vent hose and crankcase ventilation vent line (3) for deposits; clean or replace as necessary. Check condition of hose clamps; replace if necessary. | |
14 | Remove compressor air intake duct (1) at lifting eye at the rear (2) and on timing case (4) | ||
15 | Remove both brackets for constant throttle compressed air line (6), engine brake compressed air line (7) and coolant line for compressor (9) at lifting eye at the rear (2) | ||
16 | Remove side bracket on timing case (4) with compressor control compressed-air line (8), the constant throttle compressed air line (6) and the engine brake compressed air line (7) | ||
17 | Remove oil separator (5) on timing case (4) | Collect engine oil that flows out. | |
Installation: Replace seal on oil separator (5). | |||

18 | Remove timing case (4) | Detach timing case (4) using a plastic mallet if necessary to remove the timing case (4) the constant throttle compressed air line (6), the engine brake compressed air line (7), the compressor air intake duct (1) and slightly push the compressor coolant line (9) upwards. | |
Check timing case (4) for damage; replace if necessary. | |||
Installation: Place timing case (4) on dowel pins (12). | |||
Replace radial sealing ring (13) in timing case (4). Check whether a race is mounted on flywheel; install appropriate radial sealing ring (13) in the timing case (4) if necessary. | |||

19 | Remove oil separator (5) oil guide (19) and all detachable parts on timing case (4) | Only when replacing timing case (4). | |

20 | Remove seal (11) | Clean sealing surfaces | |
Installation: Replace seal (11) and exactly cut off protruding seal ends in the lower area after installing timing case (4). | |||
21 | Install in the reverse order |
