Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Disconnect both engine mounts from front axle carrier by unscrewing screw/bolts (1)

Attach engine support frame and raise engine

Lift out engine carefully and ensure that the engine does not touch the partition wall.

Remove oil pan bottom section

Detach oil lines (2, 3) for automatic transmission from oil pan (4) by detaching retaining clamps (5)

Detach the pressure line (6) for the power steering from the oil pan (4) by removing the Screw/bolt (7)

 Screw/bolt, power steering pressure line to oil pan

Detach double clamp (8) for oil lines (2, 3) from automatic transmission

Disconnect plug from oil sensor (oil level, temperature and quality) (B40)

Detach oil pan (4), to do this, unscrew Screw/bolts (9, 10)

Detach oil pan (4) from the crankcase and remove it to rear

Notes on sealant path for oil pan

 Use a screwdriver to pry off oil pan (4) from the crankcase at the given surface (arrow).

 Installation: Apply sealant to sealing surface of the oil pan (4).

Clean

Clean the sealing surfaces on the oil pan (4) and crankcase

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can get damaged otherwise.

Install in the reverse order

Wait about 5 minutes after switching off the warm engine before checking engine oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary


Vehicle must be horizontal and standing on its wheels.
Measurement errors can occur otherwise.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.
