Remove air filter housing

Turn engine at the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation to a crank angle of 40° after ignition TDC

Disconnect right electrical connector on ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

Remove ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) from the control unit brackets (5l, 5r) and place it to the side

 The left connector (L) on the ME-SFI [ME] control unit ME (N3/10) is not to be disconnected.

Remove right control unit bracket (5r)

 Bolt, control unit bracket to resonance intake manifold

Detach ground line (9) from cylinder head cover (7).

 Screw/bolt, ground line to cylinder head cover

Detach feed duct (8) from resonance intake manifold, cylinder head cover (7) and rear right engine suspension lug (10) and place to the side

 Screw/bolt, feed duct to resonance intake manifold

Remove cover (4) of the centrifuge

Remove front cover (3) on the right cylinder head

Detach the fuel distributor bracket (11)

Loosen bolts for cylinder head cover (7) in reverse order of tightening procedure and remove them

Carefully pry off cylinder head cover (7) from cylinder head.

Notes on sealant path for cylinder head cover

Do not pound in tool for prying off between cylinder head cover (7) and cylinder head.
The sealing surfaces will be damaged otherwise.

 Installation: Apply sealant to the cylinder head cover (7).

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head and cylinder head cover (7)

Remove sealant

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces will be damaged otherwise.

Install in the reverse order



Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Carry out engine test run and check engine for leaktightness while it is running

Read out fault memory



Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory
