Removing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain coolant from retarder's heat exchanger (1)

 Only on models fitted with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder.

Remove noise encapsulation below the radiator.

Remove front crossmember (24)

 Only vehicles with code (A00) Air-sprung front axle

Disconnect adapter or connections on PTO

 Only on models fitted with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder and power take-off.

Collect transmission oil on power take-off with C version.

Detach transmission oil hoses (14) from transmission oil cooler lines (5)

 Catch escaping oil.

Remove transmission oil cooler lines (5) at connecting point to transmission

 Catch escaping oil.

Detach transmission oil cooler lines (5) on brackets (3, 6, and 7)

Detach coolant return hose (9) and push back on the coolant return pipe (8)

 Only on models fitted with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder.

Collect escaping coolant in a suitable vessel.

Remove clamps (2) at brackets on transmission and engine

 Only on models fitted with code (BA1) Performance-optimized Voith retarder.

Remove transmission oil cooler lines (5) with clamps (4)

 With regard to return shipment or scrapping of removed parts, please observe the information in your warranty system.



Also mount new bracket (10) onto rear section of transmission housing

Install new transmission oil cooler lines (5)

Install transmission oil cooler lines (5) onto connecting point to transmission

 Position the nuts for the transmission oil cooler lines (5) by hand only, do not bolt on.

Mount transmission oil cooler lines (5) with rubber (15.1), sleeve (15.2), bracket (15) and bolt (15.3) onto bracket (3)

 Position bolt (15.3) by hand only, do not tighten.

Mount transmission oil cooler lines (5) with rubber (16.2), sleeve (16.3), bracket (16) plate (16.1) and bolt (16.4) onto bracket (3)

 Position bolt (16.4) by hand only, do not tighten.

Mount transmission oil cooler lines (5) with rubber (17.2), sleeve (17.3), bracket (17) plate (17.1) and bolt (17.4) onto bracket (6 and 7)

 Position bolt (17.4) by hand only, do not tighten.

Install new clamps (4), with bolt (11), spacer tube (12) and nut (13) onto transmission oil cooler lines (5)

 Note correct handling, mount clamps with zero clearance around the transmission oil cooler lines (5).

Tighten bolts (15.3, 16.4 and 17.4) on brackets (3, 6 and 7)

Install new clamps (18) with bolt (21), washers (20) and nut (22) onto bracket (10)

 Note correct handling, mount clamps with zero clearance around the transmission oil cooler lines (5).

Adjust clamps (18) to ensure they are free of tension using washers (20).

Tighten hose clamps for coolant return hose (9)
