Removing

 Danger!

Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Drain coolant from retarder's heat exchanger (1)

Remove noise encapsulation below the radiator.

Remove front crossmember (24)

 Only vehicles with code (A00) Air-sprung front axle

Disconnect adapter or connections on PTO

 Only on vehicles with power take-off.

Collect transmission oil on power take-off with C version.

Detach transmission oil hoses (14) from transmission oil cooler lines (5)

 Catch escaping oil.

Remove bolt (11), spacer tube (12) and nut (13) on clamps (15)

Remove transmission oil cooler lines (5) at connecting point to transmission

 Catch escaping oil.

Detach transmission oil cooler lines (5) on brackets (3, 6, 7 and 10)

Detach coolant return hose (9) and push back on the coolant return pipe (8)

 Collect escaping coolant in a suitable vessel.

Remove clamps (2) at brackets on transmission and engine

Remove transmission oil cooler lines (5) with clamps (4)

 With regard to return shipment or scrapping of removed parts, please observe the information in your warranty system.

Detach bracket (10) from transmission

 With regard to return shipment or scrapping of removed parts, please observe the information in your warranty system.



Install

Install new bracket (10) onto transmission

 Model 715.500/507/510/513/520/540

Install new transmission oil cooler lines (5)

Install transmission oil cooler lines (5) onto connecting point to transmission

 Position the nuts for the transmission oil cooler lines (5) by hand only, do not bolt on.

Install new clamps (4) onto transmission oil cooler lines (5)

 Note correct handling, mount clamps with zero clearance around the transmission oil cooler lines (5).

Fit transmission oil cooler lines (5) to brackets (3, 6, 7 and 10)

Install new clamps (15), bolt (11), spacer tube (12) and nut (13) onto transmission oil cooler lines (5)

 Note correct handling, mount clamps with zero clearance around the transmission oil cooler lines (5).

Install transmission oil hoses (14) onto transmission oil cooler lines (5)

Tighten nuts for transmission oil cooler lines (5)

Push coolant return line (9) of coolant return pipe (8) back onto retarder's heat exchanger (1)

Install coolant return pipe (8) using clamps (2) onto brackets on transmission and engine

Tighten hose clamps for coolant return hose (9)



Install adapter or connections on power takeoff

 Only on vehicles with power take-off.

Collect transmission oil on power take-off with C version.

Pour in coolant

Inspect transmission oil level, adjust to correct level if necessary
