Remove wheel



Detach jammed balance weight (43a) using assembly tool

Do not use hard, pointed or sharp-edged tools,
to avoid damaging the surface of the disk wheel.

Remove valve element from valve (43g)

Drain TIREFIT sealant out of tires

After using TIREFIT tire sealant

Position the press-off blade of the tire mounting device on the tire bead flank


Do not position bead breaker shovel on tire sidewall,
otherwise, the carcass will be damaged.


On vehicles with code (475) Tire pressure monitor, do not position bead breaker shovel on inner and outer side of tire near the valve (43g),
otherwise, the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 up to A69/4) will be damaged.

 Position bead breaker shovel onto bead flank opposite the valve (43g).

Press inner and outer tire sidewall over safety bead seats into drop center of disk wheel

Fasten disk wheel on tire mounting device

Apply coating of assembly paste onto disk wheel flange and tire beads

Position disk wheel on the tire mounting device

 Position the disk wheel so that the valve (43g) is 10 cm behind the assembly head, viewed in the direction of rotation (arrow) of the disk wheel.

Align assembly head at a small distance (X, Y) to the disk wheel

Use assembly lever to lever the tire bead over the mounting lug of the mounting head and detach the tire from the disk wheel


On vehicles with code (475) Tire pressure monitor, forces may not be applied to the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 up to A69/4),
otherwise, it will be damaged.



Check condition of disk wheel

Check TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/4), valve body (3) and shoulder seal (3s, Beru system only up to 08/2004) in installed condition for damage

With code (475) Tire pressure monitor


Do not remove TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/4). Do not retighten bolt (3a, only Beru system) and union nut (2),
otherwise, the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 up to A69/4) will be damaged.

 Replace all components if the bolt (3a) or union nut (2) are visibly loose.

Replace TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/4) in event of visible damage or if TIREFIT tire sealant has been used (Beru system only):



Remove/install wheel sensor

Model 219.3 up to 31.05.05 with code 475 (Tire pressure monitor) Beru system

When doing so, observe tightening torque values for the different sealing versions:

Install new valve (43g)

Clean

Clean the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/4)

With code (475) Tire pressure monitor


Only remove dirt with a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not use compressed air, solvents or cleaners,
otherwise, the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 up to A69/4) will be damaged.



Assemble

Apply coating of assembly paste to shoulders of disk wheel and tire bead of new tire

Position disk wheel on the tire mounting device

 Position the disk wheel so that the valve (43g) is approximately 180° opposite the mounting head.

Place new tire at an angle on disk wheel and align mounting head at close distance (X, Y) to disk wheel

 Observe running direction on unidirectional tires. On vehicles with mixed tires observe the correct assignment of the tire to disk wheel.

Pull tire over shoulder onto disk wheel with tire mounting device


With code (475) Tire pressure monitor Do not apply any force to the TPM wheel sensor (A69/1 to A69/4),
otherwise, it will be damaged.

 Load the tire beads as little as possible.

Align the match points of the tire and disk wheel relative to one another

Remove disk wheel with tire from tire mounting device

Remove valve element from valve (43g)

Inflate tires

 Maximum filling pressure 3 bar.

 The tire bead must slide evenly over the safety bead seats of the disk wheel, otherwise apply coating of assembly paste to the tire bead.

Turn valve element into valve (43g)

Correct tire pressure
