Before starting work the area around the oil cooler lines (1, 2) must be thoroughly cleaned in the area around the separation points. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the transmission

Move selector lever into position "N"

Release parking brake

Switch ignition off, remove ignition key (transmitter key)

 On vehicles with code 889 Keyless Go: Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until the ignition is switched off.

Remove the Keyless Go transmitter card or transmitter key from the vehicle and store beyond the reach of the transmitter (min.
2 m).

Open engine hood and raise to vertical position

Unclip safety clamps (7, 8) of the left and right oil cooler line (1, 2) on the radiator (3)

 Do not pull the oil cooler lines (1, 2) out of the radiator (3).

Remove bottom engine compartment paneling

Pull oil cooler lines (1, 2) out of the radiator (3)

 In order to avoid damage and leakage, do not kink or bend oil cooler lines (1, 2).

 Collect escaping transmission oil in a suitable container and seal off line connections with  plugs.

 Installation: Replace O-rings.



Remove bolts (4, 9)

 Installation: Replace bolts.

Pull oil cooler lines (1, 2) out of the transmission

 In order to avoid damage and leakage, do not kink or bend oil cooler lines (1, 2).

 Collect escaping hydraulic oil in a suitable container and seal off line connections with  plugs.



 Installation: Replace O-rings.

Left oil cooler line (1)

 Mount engine support frame and lift up engine lift

 Raise engine until the front engine mounts are completely relieved of load.

Detach right and left engine mount from front axle carrier

Detach retaining clamps (10, 11, 12) on the engine oil pan and left oil cooler line (1)

 To prevent damage and leaks, do not bend or kink left oil line (1).

 The left oil cooler line (1) is removed via the intermediate space arising between the engine mount and front axle carrier.



Right oil cooler line (2)

Detach retaining clamps (5, 6) on the engine oil pan and remove right oil cooler line (2)

 To prevent damage and leaks, do not bend or kink right oil cooler line (2).



Install in the reverse order

Check transmission oil level and correct if necessary

 Always observe work procedure and Specifications for Operating Fluids, otherwise transmission will be damaged.
