1 Detach bearing cap (2) from front section of transmission housing.
2 Remove setting ring (3).
3 Recut threaded holes for micro-encapsulated bolts (1) in front section of transmission housing.
4 Clean sealing surface (4) on front section of transmission housing.

5 Fit tensioning device with thrust piece on to tapered roller bearing outer race and mount on transmission housing in position shown.
If necessary, turn back clamping bolt (5) first.
6 Tighten clamping bolt (5) to specified torque. At the same time, turn drive shaft so that the tapered roller bearings can settle.

7 Measure setback A of tapered roller bearing outer race in relation to sealing surface of bearing cap using depth gauge .
8 See table for specified bearing play, compare to setback A measurement and determine the necessary setting ring thickness.
Setting rings are available in thicknesses from 2.2 mm to
2.95 mm, in 0.05 mm graduations.

9 Loosen clamping bolt and remove tensioning device.
10 Coat bearing cap (2) with Omnifit sealant (see table).
Ensure no sealant enters the oil duct (arrow).

11 Insert setting ring (3) of required thickness.
12 Install bearing cap (2).
Note the installation position! The recess in the bearing cap must be on the bottom side.
Use new micro-encapsulated bolts (1).
See table for tightening torque.
