Risk of burn injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices

No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards.

Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground.

Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Remove maintenance cover

Detach heat shield (1) from top of exhaust manifold

Release clamp (2) from exhaust pipe (3)

Remove shift lever (5)

Remove right-hand floor mat

Remove covers (6) from assembly holes (arrows)

Remove soundproofing

Detach exhaust pipe bracket (14) from transmission and push exhaust pipe (3) to the side

Remove propeller shaft

Detach propeller shaft from transmission and propeller shaft intermediate bearing

On vehicles with split propeller shaft

Disconnect propeller shaft (8) from PTO

On vehicles with codes NM0, NM1, NM4, NM5, NN2



Detach power take-off connections

Release and detach speedometer sensor connection (9)

 Attach new tamperproof seal on speedometer sensor connection

Unplug neutral position switch connector (12) and backup lamp switch connector (11)

Detach clutch slave cylinder (10)



Remove bolts (7)

 Fit socket wrench bit onto the bolts from below and slacken from above through the assembly holes with the aid of a second person

  Installation: Use new bolts

Unscrew bolts (13) and lift out transmission

 Lower transmission with engine a little, pull out transmission towards the rear and lower

 Installation: Coat splined profile of input shaft with long-term grease.
