1 | Remove maintenance flap | ||
2 | Turn cooling system cap (1) on expansion reservoir (2) a half turn counterclockwise, relieve the overpressure and then unscrew the cooling system cap (1) | ||
Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or tilting off of the vehicle from the vehicle lift. | Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. | |

4 | Loosen hose clamp (4), detach coolant hose (3) on cooler (5) and drain off coolant | Catch coolant in a suitable container. | |
5 | Remove coolant drain plug (8) and drain off coolant | Catch coolant in a suitable container. | |
Filling | |||
6 | Attach coolant hose (3) on cooler (5) and fasten with hose clamp (4) | Replace hose clamp (4). | |
7 | Tighten down coolant drain plug (8) | Replace sealing ring of coolant drain plug (8). | |
8 | Lower vehicle | ||
9 | Remove interior flap above engine | ||
10 | Fill cooling system via the expansion reservoir (2) | The engine coolant level in the coolant expansion reservoir (2) must be positioned at the 'Max.' marking. | |

11 | Loosen clamp (7) and detach coolant hose (6) from connection fitting on cylinder head | Wait until the coolant escapes out of the coolant hose (6) and out of the connection fitting on cylinder head. | |
12 | Push coolant hose (6) onto connection fitting on cylinder head and fasten with the clamp (7) | Replace hose clamp (7). | |
13 | Correct coolant level in expansion reservoir (2) | The engine coolant level in the coolant expansion reservoir (2) must be positioned at the 'Max.' marking. | |

14 | Seal expansion reservoir (2) with cap (1) | ||

15 | Run engine until it is warmed-up | until the radiator fan motor switches on. | |
16 | Repeat ventilation process until no further air escapes out of the coolant hose (6) and the connection fitting on cylinder head | Repeat ventilation process (Operation steps 2 and 11 to 15) at least once. Engine damage may occur otherwise. | |
17 | Check cooling system for leaktightness | ||
18 | Raise vehicle | ||
