Remove/install metering device for exhaust aftertreatment system

Danger!

Risk of burn injuries and scalding when working at AdBlue lines and the components attached to them. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling AdBlue. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing AdBlue

Pour AdBlue into suitable containers only. Wait until the pressure is released before starting any work on the exhaust aftertreatment system.

Disconnect battery ground line

Open engine hood and raise to vertical position

 Installation: Only close engine hood after leakage test.

Remove air filter

Remove air intake duct for fresh air intake

Remove injection line (16)

 Installation: Replace injection line (16) after each removal.

Unscrew test connection (3) and remove compressed air line (2) on metering device (1)

 Seal holes with a suitable plug.

 Installation: Replace sealing rings.



Expose electric wiring harness (11) and electrical connectors (12, 13, 14, 15) on metering device (1).

Remove bracket (5) on metering device (1)



Disconnect electrical connector (4) and move holder (5) up together with electrical wiring harness (11)

Detach metering device (1) on heat shield (7) and bracket (6)

 Installation: Check metering device (1) for foreign objects, contamination and damage before assembling.

Align heat shield (7) with bracket (6).



Remove bushings (8).

 Installation: Check bushings (8), replace if necessary.

Remove AdBlue feed hose (9) on line fitting (10) for metering device (1)

 Installation: Check for foreign objects, fouling and damage before mounting the AdBlue feed line (9) replace AdBlue feed line (9), if necessary.

Unscrew line fitting (10) on metering device (1)

 Only when metering device (1) is to be replaced Replace seal.



Install in the reverse order

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and check metering device (1) for leakage with engine running; then shut off engine
