1 | Clean the vicinities of the retarder drain plug (1), the oil tank (2) | Drain the hot oil while it is hot | |
2 | Remove the drain plugs (1, 2) | Collect the oil in a suitable container and allow it to drain completely. | |
3 | Remove the retarder drain plug (4) | Clean the strainer using a cleaning agent and blow it with compressed air. | |
4 | Screw the drain plugs (1, 2, 4) | Renew the sealing rings. Plugs with integrated sealing plastic rings should be replaced. | |

5 | Open maintenance flap over the transmission | ||
6 | Clean the area around the filler plug (3) | ||
7 | Remove the filling plug (3) | ||
8 | Fill the retarder with the prescribed amount of oil | Accurately measure the amount of oil before refilling. Slowly add oil during, at least, 3 minutes. | |

11 | Bleed the air retarder (lubricant bleeding) | During the course test at a speed of 50 km/h: | |

Activate the retarder, in the first position of the lever, for 5 seconds and disengage in the sequence; | |||
Repeat this operation 4 or 5 times. |
