Danger | Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries | No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
| Remove/install | ||
1 | Disconnect battery ground cable
Topical note | Notes on battery
2 | Empty the compressed air system | For that, actuate the valve in the reservoir of the system.
3 | Remove the passenger seats from the gearbox inspection cover
4 | Remove the inspection cover which is over the gearbox | The inspection cover can vary according to body execution.
5.1 | Remove control bar of the gearbox | Gearbox 714.124/144 with "mechanical" control code G62
5.2 | Remove the control cables by traction (1) from the support (2) and the motion reversing lever (3, 4) | Gearbox 714.124/144 with control by "Bowden cable", code G63
Do not carry out any change on the adjustment of the control cables by traction (1).
5.3 | Remove the compressed air pipes from the gearbox control cylinders | Gearbox 714.124/144 with electropneumatic control (EPS), code G61
5.4 | Remove the switch from the sensors of control cylinders of gearbox | Gearbox 714.124/144 with electropneumatic control (EPS), code G61
6 | Remove gearbox support (5)
7 | Lift the vehicle | ||
8 | Remove the lower coating
9 | Drain oil from transmission | Carry out this service operation only if it is necessary to change the oil or if you disassemble the gearbox.
| Manual transmission - oil change | . | |
10 | Remove transmission shaft
11 | Remove the support (6) from gearbox front part
12 | Remove the support (7) from gearbox side part
13 | Disconnect the electrical connection of the reverse gear switch
14 | Disconnect the electrical connection of the output speed transmitter
15 | Remove and install the clutch servo (8) of the gearbox |
| |
| |||
It is not necessary to remove the clutch receiving cylinder tubes.
16 | Remove the clutch fork tappet | In order to make possible that the clutch fork can be pushed out through the clutch bearing groove, during the removal of the gearbox.
In installation procedure:
| |||
Lock the clutch bearing in the pressure plate safety ring
| |||
After locking the clutch bearing, lock the tappet for the actuation of the fork in an audible and detectable manner with the clutch fork.
17 | Remove the piston stem of the control cylinder of gearbox (10) from the motion reversing lever (9) | Gearbox 714.124/144 with control by "Bowden cable", code G63
18 | Remove the gearbox control shock absorber support (11), and disassemble the gearbox control shock absorber (12) | Gearbox 714.124/144 with control by "Bowden cable", code G63
19 | Support the engine with an hydraulic equipment | Support the engine by the lower part of the timing case. The hydraulic equipment must have sufficient supporting surface.
20 | Install the lifting equipment on the gearbox | Use an appropriate lifting device.
21 | Lift the gearbox by the lifting lug until it is contact free with the gearbox mounting
22 | Loosen the screws from the clutch housing to the engine housing | First loosen the upper screws, and then the lower ones.
Installation: Do not incline the gearbox with the clutch housing on the engine housing flange.
23 | Remove the right and left engine support from the clutch housing
24 | Lift a little bit the gearbox and remove it pushing it backwards | Utilize an appropriate and safe lifting device.
Before installing the gearbox on engine:
| |||
Assemble the clutch bearing in the fork.
| |||
25 | Put long lasting lubricant grease in the drive shaft splined part | Clean the grease surplus which can negatively affect the clutch.
