| Measure | ||
1 | Measure deceleration values of service brake | Carry out test with engine running so that maximum vacuum is available.
The permissible deviation from the larger value may be a maximum of 25 %. A braking effect must be discernible by the time the brake pedal has been depressed by a quarter of its overall travel distance.
If the test results differ from the test specifications given in the operation text, the cause must be established and eliminated as a separate repair order.
2 | Measure deceleration of the parking brake | With models with a permissible gross vehicle weight of less than or equal to 3.5 t, the deviation must not exceed 50 %, based on the highest value.
When operating the hand brake lever of the parking brake, a braking effect must be discernible after 5 to 6 notches.
If the test results differ from the test specifications given in the operation text, the cause must be established and eliminated as a separate repair order.
3 | Enter deceleration values of the service brake and parking brake in the maintenance sheet.
4.1 | Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS | Only if ABS or ESP warning lamps come on after brake test stand run when engine is running.
| Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory | ||
The indicator lamp may light up when brake test stands are run at > 5 km/h, caused by an implausible speed signal from the different rotational speeds at the front and rear axles.
