For vehicle owners whose mobile phone or SIM card does not support or does not have the "Digital key in smartphone" function, it is possible to order a "Digital Vehicle Key Sticker".
General
Each Digital Vehicle Key Sticker has approx. 2000 locking data records. This means that approx. 2000 ignition changes are possible for each Digital Vehicle Key Sticker. When only 150 locking data records are left, the customer is shown a message on the instrument cluster: "Replace key, see operator's manual". If all locking data records have been used, the customer must procure a new Digital Vehicle Key Sticker through the order channel described.
Only one Digital Vehicle Key Sticker or a smartphone with integrated NFC function can be used at the same time for each vehicle. This means: If the customer changes from the Digital Vehicle Key Sticker to the integrated smartphone solution or vice versa, the previously used variant becomes invalid and will no longer function. If a Digital Vehicle Key Sticker is replaced by a new one, all existing locking data records of the old Digital Vehicle Key Sticker will be lost.
The Digital Vehicle Key Sticker can be broken out of the check card and e.g. bonded to the smartphone. Due to unfavorable positioning, however, this can prevent the Digital Vehicle Key Sticker as well as the smartphone from functioning properly. An improperly bonded Digital Vehicle Key Sticker that causes the smartphone or NFC communication to malfunction is not a material defect and therefore not a warranty case.

Teach-in and check
The Digital Vehicle Key Sticker is shipped in programmed condition and it must be taught in on the vehicle by the MercedesBenz service operation as follows:
Deactivate key (1) by pressing locking button twice.
Place key (1) in key stowage compartment (2) with symbol (4).
Place Digital Vehicle Key Sticker in stowage compartment (3).
Press start/stop button.
Wait five seconds.
Following this, a function test must be performed on the vehicle in the presence of the customer as follows:
Remove key (1) from key stowage compartment (2).
Deactivate key (1) by pressing locking button twice.
Place Digital Vehicle Key Sticker in stowage compartment (3).
Perform engine start.
Switch off engine.
Unlock and lock vehicle via NFC interface. To do so, hold the Digital Vehicle Key Sticker at the NFC interface on the driver's door handle.
If the Digital Vehicle Key Sticker is not in the contact field of the NFC interface in the center console, the following message appears in the instrument cluster: "Place key in marked stowage box/tray, see operator's manual".
If the function test is not successful, perform initial startup again. Note that the key (1) must be deactivated again.
Check in the event of a fault / customer complaints
If commissioning fails repeatedly or if there is a customer complaint, please observe SI80.57P0011A.

When ordering a Digital Vehicle Key Sticker for the first time, enter it in the TRP form sheet as an additional key and indicate as a replacement key for follow-up orders. Enter part number and designation into table provided.

Loss or theft
