A leakage of engine oil in the lower area of the fuel system high pressure pump (1) indicates a defective radial shaft sealing ring (3). The engine oil required for lubrication of the gearwheel drive then exist through the bore (arrow) between the housing for the fuel system high pressure pump (1) and the crankcase.
This damage instance used to require a replacement of the fuel system high pressure pump (1).
For fuel system high pressure pumps (1) with part number A 470 090 07 50 or A 470 090 08 50 the front radial shaft sealing ring (3) can with immediate effect be ordered separately. The corresponding repair instructions were published in the WIS.
The part number can be read off the identification plate (2).
A warranty claim for replacement of the fuel system high pressure pump (1), as a consequence of oil leakage through the bore (arrow), is to be rejected with a reference to the new repair option now available.
