Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by fuel vapors igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling combustible gases and risk of injury caused by burns during and after operation of heater unit | Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.
Danger! | Risk of explosion caused by escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or metal spatter due to short circuit. Risk of burn injuries caused by short circuit. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing battery electrolyte (contains diluted sulfuric acid) or absorption of lead over the skin or orifices | No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves and clothing and safety glasses with side guards. Do not place any conductive objects on the battery and avoid any short circuit from battery positive to ground. Only fill liquid battery electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
| Disconnect ground lead from battery | Do not interrupt main battery current in heater mode or in the power-down phase.
| Remove storage compartment | With body 942.899 only
| Remove heater | Body 942.899
Bodies 940.899, 972.899
Bodies 375.840, 944.899
| Remove upper housing segment and covers
| Remove controller board | Do not touch controller board tracks.
| Remove heater from lower housing segment
| Remove combustion and heated air blower
| Remove flame monitor | ||
| Push the cable sleeving (8) from the inside out of the bores in the heat exchanger (7)
| Route heating element cable (1) and flame monitor inwards through the bores in the heat exchanger (7)
| Remove cover plate (3)
| Carefully pull burner insert (2) out by tilting it | Make sure that the burner insert has separated from the afterburner pipe (10).
| Withdraw retaining screw (6) and heating element | Use penetrating oil to free up the jammed heating element and do not twist the heating element when removing it to prevent it from breaking.
| Check the starting air bore in burner insert for air passage, clean if necessary
| Install | ||
| Fit new seal (9) into heat exchanger (7) and move afterburner pipe (10) into installation position
| Install heating element (1) into the burner insert (2)
| Tighten heating element (1) using retaining screw (6) | Because of the risk of fracture the heating element's retaining screw should be removed carefully.
| Insert burner insert (2) into the heat exchanger (7) | Make sure that the flame monitor's cable is located below the fuel line. The fuel line guide must lie flush with the heat exchanger's sealing surface.
| Route cables of heating element (1) and flame monitor through the bores in the heat exchanger (7) and press into cable sleeving (8)
| Install burner insert (2) with cover panel (3)
| Install flame monitor
| Install heated air and combustion air blower
| Install heater into lower housing segment | Insert heated-air inflow into the guide groove.
