| Removing, installing | ||
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.
1 | Reduce pressure in coolant circuit | To do this, turn closure cap of coolant expansion tank to notch position 1.
2 | Unclip heater cover (5) | If necessary, release fixing of combustion air intake hose (12).
3 | Disconnect circulation pump coupling (8) | Installation: coupling is coded.
4 | Release attachment (17) and detach circulation pump bracket (13) | Installation: attach circulation pump bracket first.
5 | Detach coolant feed hose (4) and coolant return hose (3)
6 | Detach circulation pump (A6m1) from coolant hose (4) | Collect escaping coolant and fill back into coolant expansion tank after installation.
7 | Replace pump cover from circulation pump (A6m1) to be installed with a pump cover with a straight inlet connection (23) | Ensure gasket (q) is seated correctly.
8 | Install in the reverse order
9 | Bleed coolant circuit after installation
Checking | |||
Danger! | Risk of explosion due to fuel vapors, risk of poisoning from breathing in combustion gases and risk of injury due to combustions during or after heating operation | Do not operate stationary heater, auxiliary heater or engine with heater booster in closed areas or when refueling. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.
10 | Start up stationary heater
| Start up stationary heater | If the heater (A6) switches off automatically before reaching its operating temperature and if it cannot be restarted, there is a fault interlock: | |
Cancel fault interlock for vehicles up to 31.1.00.
Cancel fault interlock for vehicles as of 1.2.00.
11 | Check cooling system for leaks |
