Danger | Risk of death for persons with implants caused by work on permanent magnet retarder. Risk of injury caused by burns due to contact with hot rotor. | As a safe distance from the permanent magnet retarder, a minimum distance of 30 cm is to be maintained between the permanent magnet retarder and the body parts of the affected person for people with implants.

| Remove/install | ||
| Use right multifunction lever to set retarder control to position "0".
| Switch off ignition. | ||
| Remove noise encapsulation.
| Remove adapter from flange of permanent magnet retarder.
| Release electrical connector (7) on valve unit (4), detach it and place it to one side.
| Detach connector coupling from compressed-air line (6) on valve unit (4) and place compressed-air line (6) to one side.
Installation: Only the compressed air connection system "VOSS 232" may be used on the valve unit (4).
| Secure stator (1) with transmission plate and telescopic lifter against falling down.
| Unscrew bolts (2). | Bolt, stator to adapter plate
| Remove stator (1) from carrier plate.
| Remove actuating cylinder (3) from stator (1). | Only when replacing the stator (1).
| Remove heat shield (5) from stator (1). | Only when replacing the stator (1).
| Install in the reverse order. |
