Danger! | Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. | Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.
1 | Run in parking brake before test and setting procedure | Do not thermally overload brake. This avoids damage to the brake system.
Before the brake break-in procedure with new brake linings ensure that the parking brake is preadjusted roughly in order to be able to apply the required forces for the brake break-in procedure.
Brake test stand: Model 900.63, model 906.11/13/21/23/61/63/
Model 900.65, model 906.15/25/65: Determine rolling resistance on brake test stand. The brake break-in procedure is performed with 2000 N brake force plus the determined rolling resistance for 3 min. Should the vehicle tend to move out of the rollers, reduce brake force correspondingly.
Road or roller dynamometer: Accelerate vehicle to 60 km/h and pull the hand brake lever lightly (200 N) for approx. 12 s.
2 | Raise vehicle | ||
3 | Remove one wheel bolt on each rear wheel | Model 900.63, model 906.11/13/21/23/61/63/
Light-alloy wheels must be taken off completely.
Adjust | |||
4 | Loosen jam nut (33) and adjusting nut (30) and thus relieve parking brake cables (4) at cable adjuster (31)
5 | Loosen nuts (34) and move cable adjuster (31) up to the end stop in the direction of travel
6 | Adjust basic clearance for parking brake | Model 900.63, model 906.11/13/21/23/61/63/
Model 900.65, model 906.15/25/65

7 | Adjust parking brake cable (4) | Operate the hand brake lever several times with moderate force, then release and operate up to the third notch. Tighten adjusting nut (30) of cable adjuster (31) until the rear wheels can still just be turned by hand in the direction of travel.
8 | Check that rear wheels can turn freely | To do this, operate the hand brake lever 3 times and release again. The rear wheels must turn freely and without grinding the brake. If the rear wheels do not turn freely, the adjustment must be repeated.
9 | Tighten lock nut (33) | ||
10 | Install in the reverse order
11 | Carry out brake test on the test stand | In the fourth notch of the hand brake lever, the parking brake must have the same brake values or brake values within the permissible tolerance on both sides, otherwise repeat the adjustment. |
