Remove floating brake caliper (2) with brakepads (3)

Topical note

Notes on installing brake hoses

AH42.10-P-9406-01A

Do not tension or kink brake hose. To relieve the load on the brake hose, secure the floating brake caliper (2) to the vehicle free of tension.
Otherwise the brake hose will be damaged.
Check correct routing of brake hose.

7

Remove brakepads (3) from floating brake caliper (2)

Brakepads (3) are to be disposed of as special waste. The local authorities can provide information regarding whether disposal is also permitted as industrial waste similar to domestic waste.

Only brakepads (3) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed as a set.

Check

Inspect condition of brake disks

AP42.10-P-4258GZ

Replace brakepads (3) and brake disks as set only, if necessary.

9

Remove and check brakepad contact sensor from backing plate of brakepad (3)

Notes on installing brake wear indicator contact sensors

AH42.10-P-0003-01GZ

Check for damage, replace contact sensor if necessary.

10

Check guide pins and boots

Check guide pins for sluggishness and damage. Check boots for damage and loose seat. Replace damaged parts with new parts.

11

Check floating brake caliper (2)

If the floating brake caliper (2) is leaky or the dust boot is damaged:

Replace front axle brake caliper.
