Danger! | Risk of burn injuries and scalding when working at AdBlue lines and the components attached to them. Risk of injury to skin and eyes when handling AdBlue. Risk of poisoning from swallowing AdBlue | Only pour AdBlue into suitable containers. Only begin work on the exhaust aftertreatment system after releasing the pressure.
| Notes on use, material properties and handling AdBlue | ||
1 | Switch off ignition | ||
2 | Open maintenance flap
Danger! | Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing coolant. | Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
3 | Release pressure in coolant circuit
| Notes on coolant | ||
4 | Remove cover (1) | Installation: Replace removed cable tie.
5 | Open insulating tubing (3, 4) to a length of about 10 cm and push back
6 | Unclamp coolant line (5) and AdBlue line (6) with clamping devices and detach from line fitting
7 | Unclamp coolant line (8) and AdBlue line (7) with clamping devices and detach from line fitting
8 | Disconnect electrical connector (10) and pull electrical line out of the frame | Installation: Replace removed cable tie.
9 | Insert claw wrench (11) in the openings (13) on the locking ring (9).
10 | Insert breaker bar (12) into claw wrench (11) and turn locking ring (9) counterclockwise until the locked position "open" (A) is reached | A high degree of force is needed to do this. The locking ring engages and disengages abruptly. Do not insert an extension between the locking handle (12) and the claw wrench (9)!
Installation: Turn locking ring (9) clockwise until the catch tab (15) lies on the left on the recesses in the fastening claw.
11 | Remove locking ring (9)
12 | Remove fill level and SCR AdBlue temperature combination sensor (B117) | Installation: Clean contact surfaces for O ring (16) using clean rags and water. Replace O-ring (16). Coat O-ring (16) before assembly thinly with MB silicone grease.
Always use the prescribed MB silicone grease as an antifriction agent. One must also ensure that the antifriction agent is used very sparingly otherwise damage can occur to the exhaust aftertreatment system.
Urea crystallization which can occur due to AdBlue drops can be removed using water and a cleaning cloth.
13 | Install in the reverse order
14 | Check coolant level, correct if necessary
| Engine cooling system - check fluid level, adjust to correct level. Inspect anticorrosion/antifreeze protection, adjust to correct concentration | ||
15 | Check AdBlue lines (6, 7) in the area of the line connections for leaks | Visual inspection only.
16 | Check coolant lines (5, 8) in the area of the line connections for leaks | Visual inspection only. |
