Remove/install

Remove noise encapsulation from bottom center and right frame

 Installation: Only install soundproofing after the leak test.

Release electrical engine wiring harness (2) from the bracket (1)

Remove clamp (6) of the wastegate line (7) from the oil return feed line (3)

 Only for vehicles with code MS4 (BlueTec 4) or with code MS5 (BlueTec 5)).

Remove oil return feed line (3) from cylinder crankcase

 Counterhold fitting (4) when loosening union nut (8).
Collect escaping engine oil.

 Installation: Oil contact surface (arrow) on collar and thread of union nut (8) with engine oil.

Remove fitting (4)

 Only if fitting (4) is leaky.

Install in the reverse order

Check engine oil level with oil dipstick or on the display; correct if necessary

Notes on engine oil

 Observe oil quality set in the maintenance system or Specifications for Operating Fluids.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine and allow to run in idle. Then, allow the engine to run at varying rotational speeds

Switch off engine and check oil return line (3) for leak tightness

 Visual inspection.
