The safety fuel shutoff is activated:

In the event of a mechanical fault in the throttle valve actuator
By switching off the fuel injectors, the engine speed is limited to approx. 1400 rpm in idle and to approx. 1800 rpm in driving mode.

If the engine speed signal "TNA" is missing
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit switches the fuel pump off.

When a crash signal is received (from the restraint systems control unit) with deployment of the airbags
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit switches the fuel pump off and briefly actuates the fuel injectors on order to depressurize the fuel system.
