| Removing | ||
1 | Remove transmission (1) | Do not remove the transmission when it is hot as the bell housing is subject to increased pressure due to the different rates of thermal expansion.
2 | Detach spring clutch (3) from engine flywheel | - Remove two opposing bolts and replace them with stud bolts (5). - Remove all bolts (6) except for the two stud bolts (5). - Using the two stud bolts, press spring clutch (3) off flywheel (4) and remove. - In the case of the spring clutches with the number - 56.0301 or - 56.1608 make sure that only the long hexagon bolts (every other bolt) are removed and not the clutch-internal hexagon bolts. Do not detach the spring clutch while it is hot. If detached when hot and, additionally, there is an intermediate flange, this flange could remain attached to the spring clutch and fall down.
| Checking | ||
3 | Check oil level in spring clutch (hydraulic damper) | If traces of oil are visible at the hub:
- Temperature of spring clutch must not exceed 50 °C. - Rotate spring clutch such that check bores are aligned vertically above each other. - Wait for approx. 3 minutes. - Remove upper screw plug. - Tilt spring clutch by approx. 15 ° about horizontal axis with upper bore pointing toward observer. Oil should now run out of bore, otherwise there is not enough oil in spring clutch. If this is the case, determine reason for low oil level and eliminate problem.
| |||
4 | Check torsional play between input shaft of transmission and hub of spring clutch (hydraulic damper) | - Push spring clutch onto input shaft of transmission and turn. If the torsional play at the hole circle with 410 mm diameter is greater than
| Install | ||
5 | Attach spring clutch (3) to flywheel
6 | Install transmission (1). | - Grease gearing of transmission input shaft and of spring clutch hub. - When sliding transmission input shaft into spring clutch hub, make sure that shaft does not tilt, otherwise spring clutch could be damaged. |
