Disconnect ground lead from battery

 Installation: -Code radio.
-Set clock.

Risk of injury to skin and eyes through scalding by hot, pressurized coolant. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant

Open cooling system only when coolant temperature below 90 °C. Slowly unscrew cap and allow the excess pressure to escape. Coolant should not be poured into drinking vessels.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and protective glasses.

Risk of explosion due to fuel vapors, risk of poisoning from combustion gases and risk of injury through burning during or after heater operation

Do not operate stationary heater, or engine with heater booster in enclosed areas or while filling fuel tank. Allow heater unit to cool down after operation and wear protective gloves.

Remove sealing cap on radiator

Unscrew nuts (3)



Detach heater (A87, A90) with holder

Remove nuts (2) of heat deflection plate (1)

 Place heat deflection plate (1) to one side.

Cut cable ties of electrical unit and of air inlet pipe (7)

 Installation: Replace cable ties. Note installation position of cable ties.

Disconnect connectors
(A87.1, A90.1, A75.3)

Disconnect refrigerant lines (4, 5)

 Clamp

Detach refrigerant lines (4) on heater
(A87, A90)

 Collect escaping refrigerant in a suitable container.

Note installation position of refrigerant line (4).

 Inspect condition of clamp, replace if necessary

Detach connector (M54.1) from fuel pump, heater booster (M54)

Disconnect fuel feed line (6)

Detach fuel feed line (6)

 Collect escaping fuel in a suitable container.

Installation: replace hose clamp.

Detach refrigerant line (5) on heater (A87, A90)

 Collect escaping refrigerant in a suitable container.

Note installation position of refrigerant line (5).

 Inspect condition of clamp, replace if necessary

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident through vehicle taking off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury through crushing and burning on contact during start process or with engine running

Secure vehicle against taking off by itself.
Wear fastened and close-fitting working clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Start engine, vent cooling and heating system

Allow engine to warm up for approx. 1 min at varying speeds.

Continuously top up with refrigerant up to upper marking in coolant expansion tank.
