 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Perform commissioning of the stationary heater.

When replacing stationary heater unit (A6).



Remove center engine compartment lining.

Drain off coolant.

Remove flexible pipe (1) from muffler.

Open clamp (2), remove coolant hose (3) and seal connections.

 Collect escaping coolant with a suitable container.

Disconnect electrical connectors (4) from stationary heater control unit (A6n1).

Remove fuel line (5) from bracket (6).

Remove line protection (7).

Open clamp (8), remove fuel line (5) and seal connections using stop plugs.

 Installation: Replace clamp (8).

Unscrew nuts (9).

Extend stationary heater unit (A6) out of holder (10) until the connection of the coolant hose (11) is accessible.

Remove clamp of coolant hose (11).

 Installation: Replace clamp.

Remove coolant hose (11), seal connections with stop plugs and remove stationary heater unit (A6).

 Collect escaping coolant with a suitable container.

 Record plug

Remove all detachable parts of stationary heater unit (A6).

When replacing stationary heater unit (A6).

Install in the reverse order

19

Carry out function check of stationary heater.

 If the stationary heater unit (A6) switches off automatically before reaching its operating temperature and cannot be restarted again a malfunction interlock is present.

If a fault interlock is present.



Rectify fault interlock with vehicle diagnosis system.


