Remove

Remove trim from center piece in front of the windshield (1).

Remove inside rearview mirror.

Disconnect electrical connector of the multifunction camera.

If installed.

 Do not remove multifunction camera.

Disconnect electrical connector of the rain and light sensor.

Remove multifunction camera.

If installed, when replacing windshield (1).

Remove rain and light sensor.

 The rain and light sensor must be replaced.

 Warning

Risk of injury from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass when cutting out bonded windows

Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.

Cut out windshield (1) with windshield removal tool.

Carefully cut out windshield (1). Lift adjacent component parts (e.g. roof lining) when cutting out.
Otherwise the components can be damaged.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Window cutter
Cup suction tool/shackle (for removing and installing windows)

 Punch pipe probe for cutting wire through bottom of adhesive seam at easily accessible point on front passenger side.



Clean

Remove remaining adhesive material from body flange.

 Cut residual adhesive down to approx. 1 mm and remove loose adhesive material.

Suction off glass splinters and contamination.

 Commercially available devices/tools
Wet and dry vacuum cleaner



Install

Apply primer to the primed surface on the body flange.

Do not apply primer on residual adhesive material.
Otherwise, the adhesive effect will be impaired.

Attach 2 suction lifters to the outside of the windshield (1).

Cup suction tool/shackle (for removing and installing windows)

Position windshield (1) on body flange, align, and center.

When reusing windshield (1).

 Align windshield (1) so that the distance (b) is equal on left and right.
Helper required.

Glue suitable adhesive strips onto the roof edge and windshield (1). Then, cut through the adhesive strips on the edge of the windshield (1).

When reusing windshield (1).

 Marks installation position. Facilitates gluing in later.
Helper required.

Remove windshield (1).

When reusing windshield (1).

 Helper required.

Prepare windshield (1) for installation.

Install windshield (1).

When replacing windshield (1).

 To do so, position the locating pins (2) for the windshield (1) accurately and press on windshield (1).

 Helper required.

Position windshield (1), align, press on, and secure against moving with suitable tape.

When reusing windshield (1).

 Helper required.
Observe marked distances. Observe curing time of adhesive material.

Remove 2 suction lifters from the outside of the windshield (1).

Install new rain and light sensor.
