Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove/install

Fix steering gear (1) in suitable position.

 Screw (4) must be accessible.

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2  m).

Remove air filter housing.

 Move engine oil filler neck out of working area.

Unscrew bolt (4).

 Installation: Slide bolt (4) all the way through groove (arrow).

 Screw/bolt, steering shaft upper part universal joint to steering shaft lower part

Raise vehicle.

Remove engine compartment lining.

Remove bolt (2).

 Installation: Slide bolt (2) all the way through groove (arrow).

 Bolt, universal joint to steering gear

Remove universal joint (3) from steering gear (1).

 Installation:
Mount universal joint (3) correctly onto steering gear (1).
Otherwise, the universal joint (3) will be incorrectly fastened.

Unscrew bolt (4).

Remove lower steering shaft (5).

 Installation:
Mount universal joint (6) correctly onto lower steering shaft (5).
Otherwise, the universal joint (6) will be incorrectly fastened.

 To do so, detach universal joint (6) from lower steering shaft (5).

Install in the reverse order.



Check

Perform test drive to check the steering wheel position.

If steering wheel position is incorrect,



perform suitable repair measures.
