Remove/install

Move transmission to neutral position and release the parking brake.

Remove corresponding front wheel and tire assembly.

Remove hub cap (2).

If installed.

Remove bolt (3) .

 Installation:
Do not exceed bolt (3) torque.
Otherwise, the angular-contact ball bearing will be damaged.

 Aid of helper required for removal and subsequent tightening of the screw (3).

 Installation: Replace screw/bolt(3).

Unclip brake hose from holder (7).

Remove brake disk.

Remove guide pin and secure brake caliper with brake hose connected to prevent it from falling down.

Do not crush or kink brake hose, and do not subject it to tension.
This will result in damage to the brake hose and can impair its function.

Remove screws (4) and remove brake cover plate (5).

 Bolt, front axle brake cover plate to steering knuckle

Remove left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1) or right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2).

Remove screws (6) and remove wiring harness with holder (7) from steering knuckle (1).

Unscrew nut (8) on tie rod and remove tie rod from steering knuckle (1).

Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (1) will be damaged.

Unscrew nut (9) from supporting joint and remove supporting joint from steering knuckle (1).


Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver.
Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (1) will be damaged.

Release front axle shaft (10) from wheel hub  (11).


Do not knock seized front axle shaft (10) out of wheel hub (11).
Otherwise, the angular-contact ball bearing will be damaged.

If the front axle shaft (10) is seized



press front axle shaft (10) out of wheel hub (11).

Unscrew nut (12) from suspension strut and remove screw (13).

 Nut, spring strut to steering knuckle

Pull front axle shaft (10) out of wheel hub  (11), place to one side and fix in place.


Do not pull front axle shaft (10) too far out of the inner constant velocity joint.
Otherwise, the inner constant velocity joint will be damaged.

Spread steering knuckle (1) apart (arrow) and remove suspension strut.

Remove wheel hub (11) and double-row angular-contact ball bearing.

If the steering knuckle (1) is replaced.

Check

Check condition of seal bellows (14) on supporting joint.

If any problems are found,



replace transverse control arm.

Install in the reverse order.
