Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.

Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Remove

Remove lower engine compartment paneling.

If installed.

Remove underbody paneling.

Remove linkage of front axle level sensor.

Remove the torsion bar linkage from the stabilizer bar (1).

 Only remove torsion bar linkage to stabilizer bar (1).

Remove stop plate (3) from left transverse control arm (4).

 To do this, remove screws (2).

Remove left transverse control arm (4).

 Leave transverse control arm (4) mounted on steering knuckle.

Remove spring tension mounting consoles (6).


Unscrew bolts (7) of spring tension mounting consoles (6) evenly and gradually by approx. 10 mm, because the spring tension mounting consoles (6) are under tension.
Otherwise the threads can get damaged.

 Secure front axle spring against falling down.

Remove stabilizer bar (1).

 To do so, remove bolts (5) and remove stabilizer bar (1) downwards.



Check

Check stabilizer bar (1) for damage.

If stabilizer bar (1) is damaged,



replace stabilizer bar (1) and elastomer bearings.

Check elastomer bearings for wear and damage.

If the elastomer bearings are worn or damaged,



replace elastomer bearings.

Install

Install stabilizer bar (1).

 To do so, screw in bolts (5) and tighten lightly by hand.

Spring tension mounting consoles (6).


Screw in bolts (7) of spring tension mounting consoles (6) uniformly and gradually by approx. 10 mm.
Otherwise the threads can get damaged.

 Remove tensioning strap.

Mount left transverse control arm (4).

Mount stop plate (3) onto left transverse control arm (4).

 Screw in bolts (2) to do this.

Mount torsion bar linkage onto stabilizer bar (1).

Drive vehicle on 4-post vehicle lift or work pit.

Rock vehicle to settle suspension several times.

Tighten bolts (5).
