Remove/install

Danger!

Injury hazard risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding due to splashing of hot coolant. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

Drain coolant

At radiator

Unplug connector (11), pull off locking element (10) and pull out coolant temperature sensor (9)

Installation: Replace seal (8).

Detach air intake hose at charge air distribution pipe

Detach coolant hoses (4, 6) at coolant thermostat housing (1)

Inspect condition of coolant hoses, replace if necessary, replace hose
clamps (5, 7)

Take off bracket of fuel line (12) at coolant thermostat housing (1)

Unscrew cap (14) at oil filter housing

Detach coolant thermostat housing (1) at cylinder head

The coolant thermostat is integrated in the housing.

Installation: Install new gasket (2), clean sealing surfaces

Install in the reverse order

Inspect cooling system for leaks
