 Warning

Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.

Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

Remove/install

Drain off coolant.

Remove diesel oxidation catalytic converter (2).

Release tension of poly-V-belt and remove from belt pulley of coolant pump (1).

Unscrew screws (3) and remove bracket (4).

Remove screws (5) from the cable duct (6).

Unclip cable duct (6) from the retaining clips (arrows) and bring out of the working area.

Remove screws (7 to 12).

 Installation: Tighten screws (7 to 12) in the numerical sequence.

 Screw, coolant pump to coolant pump housing

Remove coolant pump (1) from the coolant pump housing (13).

 Collect escaping coolant.

 Installation: Install new seal (14).
Align coolant pump (1) with the coolant pump housing (13).



Clean

Clean sealing surfaces with a lint-free rag.

Install in the reverse order.



Check

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run.
