 Danger

Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries

No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

Remove

1

Remove ground line of battery.

Remove poly-V-belt.

Remove refrigerant compressor from attached assembly carrier.

 Do not extract refrigerant. Place refrigerant compressor with connected lines to one side and secure against falling down.

Remove electric line (2) at alternator (1).

 To do so, unscrew nut (3).

Disconnect electrical connection (4).

Remove screws (5a).

In the case of the corresponding bodybuilder, a spacer can in each case be installed for each screw (5a) in these vehicles.

If installed,



remove spacers and dispose of.

Unscrew screw (5b) and remove downwards with alternator (1).

In the case of the corresponding bodybuilder, a spacer can be installed for screw (5b) in these vehicles.

If installed,



remove spacer and dispose of.



Check

Check refrigerant compressor attached assembly carrier for damage.

Depending on the findings,



replace refrigerant compressor attached assembly carrier.

Install

Install major assembly carrier for alternator (1) on refrigerant compressor attached assembly carrier.

If spacers for screws (5a, 5b) were installed.

 Major assembly carrier with part number A 646 155 07 35 and related screw N 910143 008003 available via EPC.

 Alternator carrier on auxiliary assembly carrier

Install alternator (1) with screw (5b).

 For this purpose, move alternator (1) to installation position and slightly tighten screw (5b) by hand.

Screw in screws (5a).

 Screw/bolt, alternator to timing case cover

Tighten screw (5b).

 Screw/bolt, alternator to timing case cover

Connect electrical connector (4).

Install electric line (2) at alternator (1).

 For this purpose, screw on nut (3).

 Nut, circuit B+ to alternator

Install refrigerant compressor on attached assembly carrier.
