Remove/install

Remove engine charge air duct at exhaust gas turbocharger.

 Installation: Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.

Release and disconnect electrical connector (2).

Remove bracket (3) with NOx sensor control unit upstream of SCR catalytic converter (N37/7) and with NOx sensor control unit downstream of SCR catalytic converter (N37/8) from cylinder head cover and place to one side.

Remove fan unit.

Remove the throttle valve actuator.

Remove front engine lifting lug at cylinder head.

Remove heat shield above connector coupling (4).

Remove noise damper above leak oil line (1).

Release retainer (1.1) of leak oil line (1) in the direction of the arrow and disconnect from fuel injectors for cylinders 1 to 4 (Y76/1 to Y76/4).


Pull leak oil line (1) vertically upward to unlock.
Otherwise the leak oil line (1) will be damaged.

 Use rags to catch escaping fuel.

Seal openings at leak oil line (1) and fuel injectors for cylinders 1 to 4 (Y76/1 to Y76/4) with suitable stop plugs.

Remove leak oil line (1) from cylinder head cover and brackets.

Remove mounting clamp at connector coupling (4).

Check mounting clamp for damage.

If mounting clamp is damaged



Replace mounting clamp.

Detach leak oil line (1) from connection fitting (5) and remove.

 Use rags to catch escaping fuel.

Seal the openings with suitable stop plugs.

Check leak oil line (1) for damage.

If the leak oil line (1) is damaged,



Replace leak oil line (1).

Install in the reverse order.

 Warning

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Perform engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.

Install upper engine cover.
