Remove

Remove cylinder head cover.

Remove impact plate in front of poly-V-belt.

Turn engine in direction of engine rotation at crankshaft with counterholder and set piston of cylinder 1 to top dead center (ignition TDC).

 The 0° marking on belt pulley/vibration damper must align with the marking on the crankcase. The markings on the camshaft housing (1) must match the markings on the camshafts (2, 3).

Remove low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation cooler.

Engage gearwheels (2a, 3a) with the locking bolts (01).

Install hold-down tools and tighten screws.

When installing new camshaft housing (1).

 Hold-down tool

Loosen screws of gearwheels (2a, 3a).

When installing new camshaft housing (1).

 The screw of the gearwheels (3a) has a left-hand thread.

Remove hold-down tools.

Remove screws (5) in reverse order of the tightening procedure.

Install hold-down tools without screws.

 So that camshafts (2, 3) are not twisted during removal.

Remove camshaft housing (1) with camshafts (2, 3).



Check

Check camshaft housing (1) and camshafts (2, 3) for damage.

If there is a problem,



Replace camshaft housing (1) and camshafts (2, 3).

Check gearwheels (2a, 3a) for damage.

If there is a problem,



Install new gearwheels (2a, 3a) and tighten new screws slightly by hand.

Change gearwheels (2a, 3a).

When installing new camshaft housing (1).

 Tighten new screws of gearwheels (2a, 3a) slightly by hand.

Replace O-ring (6) on cylinder head.

Remove hold-down tools.

Screw in screws (5) and tighten in the sequence of the tightening procedure.
