Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove/install

Remove right cylinder head cover.

Remove left cylinder head cover.

Remove fan with fan shroud.

Attach the hold-down tools (3) to the center camshaft bearings.

 The hold-down tool (3) assume function of camshaft bearings and relieve the load on camshaft brackets (2).

Check

Check basic position of camshafts (1).

 To do this, spin the engine at the belt pulley (6) until markings (5) on the camshaft sprockets match.
When viewed in the direction of travel, the markings (4) must be flush on the left side to the top edge of the respective cylinder head.
The top dead center (TDC) marking (arrow) on the belt pulley (6) must be aligned with the stay on the timing case cover (7).

Check timing chain.
