Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

Remove

Remove the chain tensioner.

Check

Attach a suitable sealing ring (2) to measuring chain tensioner (1).

 The sealing ring (2) is available as a replacement part of the fuel injection system, see EPC Group 07.

Install the measuring chain tensioner (1).


Install the  measuring chain tensioner (1) without sealing ring of the chain tensioner.
Otherwise a wrongly measurement value will be determined.

Push sealing ring (2) onto the measuring chain tensioner (1) up to the end stop of the scale (Figure b).

Turn engine on crankshaft through two revolutions in direction of engine rotation and in doing so read off the greatest indicator value on measuring chain tensioner (1).

 The sealing ring (2) remains at the position of the highest display value (Figure a).

Remove the measuring chain tensioner (1).

Remove sealing ring (2) from measuring chain tensioner (1).



Install

Install the chain tensioner.
