Remove left and right bearing shell (14) and swivel stabilizer bar (15) downwards



Remove bracket with hydraulic line at steering

 The bracket is fastened by the bolt for the steering.



Remove refrigerant compressor carrier

Engine 647.981 with code (H08) High performance air conditioning

 Bind refrigerant compressor to the side with lines connected.

Detach cable duct (4) for alternator wiring harness on left and right at crankcase, unhook out of oil pan (1) bolts (5) and push to the side

Remove heat shield above turbocharger

Raise engine with engine hoist (19)

Disconnect electrical connector (3) at oil level sensor

Remove the bolts (2, 5, 6) for oil pan (1), press oil lines of automatic transmission (16, 17) carefully to one side

 Pay attention to position of brackets (18) for the AT lines (16, 17).

 Installation: Observe different bolt lengths and bolt diameters. First lay on all bolts (2, 5, 6), then tighten down. See: 

Unscrew bolts (8) for oil pump (9)



Lift retaining clip (11) off oil pump chain (12), unhook oil pump (9) from oil pump chain (12) and lay in the oil pan (1)

 Installation: Replace sealing ring (10).

Take off oil pan (1) together with gasket (7) and oil pump (9)

 Installation: Clean sealing surfaces and replace gasket (7).

Coat the blue marked locations (arrows) of the seal (7) with sealant.

Clean strainer of oil pump (9)

 Installation: If the oil pump (9) is dry, fill it with engine oil so that lubrication is provided from the first start.

Install in the reverse order

 Danger!

Risk of accident caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running

Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Allow engine to run until warm, then turn off engine and check for oil leaks
