Expose and remove engine lifting lug (22).

Remove the chain tensioner.

Remove the camshaft housing with camshafts.

Remove heat shield from timing case cover (1).

Remove rear bracket of the diesel particulate filter.

Remove oil pan bottom section.

Remove screws (23) in reverse order of the tightening procedure.

Pry off timing case cover (1).


Do not damage sealing surfaces when prying off timing case cover (1).
Leaks can occur otherwise.

Remove rear radial shaft sealing ring.

Clean sealing surfaces of the crankcase, oil pan upper part (4), and timing case cover (1).

Check sealing surface at timing case cover (1) for damage.

If damage is present,



replace timing case cover (1).



Install

Apply sealant to the sealing surfaces of the timing case cover (1) with squeeze gun.

Tighten screws (2, 3) in sequence of tightening procedure.
