Compression recorder

 Warning

Risk of injury. Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects.

Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.

Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.

Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

Remove

Warm up engine to normal operating temperature

 Only check compression pressure for an engine is at operating temperature.

Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)

Remove left-hand air filter housing

Remove right air filter housing

Remove spark plugs



Connect up compression recorder (01)

Turn engine using contact switch on compression recorder (01) for about 5 seconds

 This process serves to remove combustion residues from the cylinders.

Press compression recorder (01) on tapped bore of spark plug for the cylinder to be checked

 The sealing cone of the    compression recorder (01) must close off the tapped bore of the spark plug airproof.

Turn the engine using the contact switch of the compression recorder (01) until the pressure no longer rises on the compression recorder (01)

Carry out checking procedure in the cylinder order on further cylinders in the same way

Compare measurements obtained with permissible pressures

Installation tolerance or new value of compression pressure

Remove compression recorder (01)

Attach compression recorder (01) with adapter line from the electrical connection kit to slot "87" of the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
